Where is Kamerunga?
Kamerunga is approximately 10km northwest of the Cairns CBD. At the base of the Barron Gorge, this suburb has a small population, which includes residential and farmland areas. Kamerunga is a popular fishing spot for locals, off the old bridge crossing the Barron River.

Residents of the suburb of Kamerunga are fortunate to be surrounded by much of the natural beauty of Cairns. In the adjacent suburb of Redlynch is Crystal Cascades, a freshwater swimming hole, surrounded by rainforest. Several small waterfalls feed into the swimming hole, with large granite boulders that can be great entertainment for children. Crystal Cascades is a great location for a family day out, especially on those hot humid Cairns days, with BBQ and toilet facilities available. From Kamerunga, you can travel a short distance up the range to the Atherton Tablelands and Kuranda. You can stroll the many shops in Kuranda, or venture further to Gallo Dairyland ( a favourite ) or one of the many waterfalls in the area.
